It’s no secret that interior design takes cues from the catwalks (we’ve seen Max Mara and Kenzo experiment with all things tropical), so it’s no surprise that green is set to become the new must have interior colour way of 2017 replacing the season staple of midnight blue.  Green really is the “it” colour of the Spring so much so, that Pantone’s colour of the year is called Greenery.

From upholstery to walls, from lime green to dark moss, green is an instant hit if you’re looking for a revitalizing, back to nature hue, that brings zest to a room, while still managing to work with wooden furniture tones.

Don’t feel like you need to buy a new sofa or paint a whole room to freshen up your decor.  Green used as an accent colour through a feature chair or cushion and will add depth to your room and bring the colours from the outdoors in.

Alternatively, why not inject a touch of the tropics into living spaces to create a contemporary design statement?  Try tropical wall paper to create a dynamic impact or for a more subtle look some leaf prints in frames.

Sometimes a plant is all the green you need to rejuventate your home after the stuffy cold winter months.  Lush, green climbing plants seem to be a big trend on Pinterest this Spring and they come in a variety of shapes and sizes.  Even a banana plant leaf in a vase adds a graphic statement and brings in that bright green accent that adds a nice decorative touch to your living space.

If the idea of using green in large doses really isn’t your thing, then what about using emerald glasses with regular white dinner plates to give you that up to the minute look?

Spring home trends – Multi functional furniture

With today’s homes seemly getting smaller and more tightly packed, space and storage can be a real issue.  That’s why multi functional furniture that can adapt and has more than one purpose, is a must have for Spring 2017.  By investing in some multi functional furniture, you’ll have a living space with more practicality that meets the eye.  Here are our top picks:-

Why have one side table when you can have three?  These Mobel Oak nest of tables are a perfect way to store extra surfaces in a small space.  The tables fit snugly together in one place and can be lift out and used around the house whenever they’re needed.

For extra storage, look out for hallway furniture that give you more for your money.  This Mayan Walnut monks bench combines a practical seat and hidden storage for up to ten pairs of shoes.

A trunk is a really useful piece of furniture to have in your home for extra storage.  This Heyford Rough Sawn Oak coffee trunk works as a table in the living room but is also the perfect place to keep linen and blankets handy or even store toys.

Why choose between a desk and a dressing table when you can pick a design that does both jobs?  The Urban Chic laptop desk comes with plenty of hidden storage under it’s lid and looks equally at home in the living room or bedroom.

Light wood furniture

Dark wood such as walnut have featured heavily in our homes for some time but for Spring 2017, softer, light wood tones are becoming more popular.  Oak is a popular choice for smaller spaces and can help create a more open and brighter room.   A light, wood tone prevents furniture from feeling heavy or fussy, plus oak complements neutral colour pallets beautifully and as a sustainable choice, is a great way to welcome nature into your home.

Oak is the perfect choice for solid wooden furniture and our Mobel Oak collection has a fantastic range of furniture for the living room, home office, hallway and dining room.  It’s robust, a beautiful colour and even though each piece is finished with a natural varnish,  the grain of the wood really shines through on each piece.

This Mobel Oak large bookcase would bring a natural touch to any living room or home office.  It’s straightforward design and clean styling show off the beauty of the wood which is high lighted by the contrasting matt silver drawer knobs at the base.

Light Oak wood can help create a contemporary feel to a room and is an especially practical choice for dining room furniture.  This Mobel Oak dining table and matching chairs is a versatile choice and offers a neutral base to build upon to create a stylish and interesting eating space.
